Worry and the Teaching of Patience!

Most of the time in our daily lives, we are overwhelmed by worry. The modern way of life, obligations, problems, and media burden us with a sense of fear. However, no one promised us that life would be without difficulties and challenges. These are facts! But it is wise to know that, besides love, nothing in life is permanent, including sorrows and difficulties. Patience is a characteristic of love…

[13:4] ἡ ἀγάπη μακροθυμεῖ (=patience; tolerance, long-suffering)…  [eng] Love is patient…

…worry is a haunting fear that grips the heart and exacerbates problems! We worry and place fear at the center of our lives, but the Apostle Paul, apart from the path of love, which is the only one that brings prosperity and peace to our lives, shows us another path! The path of patience!

Patience = μακροθυμία = patience; tolerance, long-suffering

  1. The quality of being able to wait without rushing, maintaining one's calm.

  2. The quality of dealing with something patiently, with attention to detail and without being discouraged.

The great philosopher Plato says, "The foundation of wisdom is patience"!

Patience is a divine virtue, and it is not at all coincidental that it is a characteristic of love…

Galatians 5:22-23

[Eng] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Without patience, we easily get disappointed, seek quick satisfaction, quick results, quick communication, fast food, and fast relationships! However, in life, we have the ability to choose whether we will be patient or constantly anxious.

Patience, however, is also strength! The strength to endure difficulties, stumbling blocks, pain, with calmness and courage. And achieving this virtue in our lives is our right and obligation…

Philippians 4:6

[eng] Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

So, the next time you observe and feel anxiety clouding your mind and troubling your heart, remember not to disregard the kindness and patience that God's love offers!

I know that some may think, can prayer solve the problem?

It's a matter of trust and faith that by placing God at the center of our lives, He, with His abilities and powers, will grant us peace in our hearts and souls, provide clarity, and everything will be easier and more tranquil!

[eng] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
